Send is a Four-Letter-Word

I submitted two query letters, and oddly, it feels nothing like I thought it would.

Nothing says professional like being supremely cranky and wanting to throw up.

This is not the pinnacle of happiness I expected from being done done.

I expected elation, and I got a nervous system revolt.

Well, this is annoying.

Now I have a new set of worries.

Did I vet the agents I queried thoroughly?

Did I check all the boxes conscientiously?

Did I follow all their instructions exactly?

OH GAWD

Did I spell her name correctly?

One of Tiffiny’s last pieces of advice was that after sending my first batch of letters, I should: “go distract yourself and resist the temptation to check QT every hour.”

Weirdly, I don’t even want to go look now. I am unreasonably in my feels about this milestone.

I have had so much criticism and advice in the past year and a half that just rolled off my back. (Being in retail for 18 years and running a news website online will give you elephant skin, trust me) But this is really stressing me out, and I’m not sure why.

I’ve been going back and forth between thinking I am the greatest thing ever (look at you, Melissa, you placed in all these contests with a VERY early draft) and who do I think I am?

Bleh.

…oh, hey, book two over there winking at me.

Pull up a chair and buy me a drink.
